Boy George has been sent hundreds of pounds in jail by devastated fans.
The singer, who is serving 15 months for the false imprisonment of a male prostitute he shackled to his bedroom wall, has received more than 400 letters and cards since he was jailed.
Several have contained pound coins, £20 and £10 notes - and one included a £25 postal order. George, 47, faces a £5,000 legal bill and is unlikely to be able to allowed to enter the United States again, where he is still a huge star.
A jail source said: "It's unbelievable why so many people would want to spend their money on him.
"But he has been genuinely touched by people's concern for him."
George has had the cash placed in a prison bank account and is allowed £15 a week to spend on food and luxuries.
He was moved from London's Pentonville jail to the softer Edmunds Hill prison in Suffolk last week but has not yet been given a job.
Despite his pop career, ex-drug addict George has admitted he squandered most of his money.
