Boy George selects Mark McFarland for "YES WE CAN" Remixes
October 29, 2009
Boy George selects Mark for Creative Collaboration
Boy George is one of the artists who has embraced the Talenthouse vision to enable emerging artists from all disciplines around the world to secure recognition and compensation.
He turned to Talenthouse to launch a Creative Invite, where he invited artists around the world to create a club mix for his “Yes We Can” a cappela. After listening to all the tracks that were submitted through Talenthouse, Boy George has chosen one of the artists to collaborate with on a future project – Mark McFarland (Michigan, U.S.).
Boy George is Mark McFarland’s biggest influence as an artist and the reason he began remixing music as a hobby since 1993 and writing songs since the age of 12. Mark, who currently works full time as a administrative assistant in health management administration, views Talenthouse and this experience as a perfect way to be recognized and to collaborate with his favorite artist. Mark was thrilled to be able to share his “Yes We Can” remix to Boy George:
“I am thrilled to have been selected by Boy George, who has had the biggest creative influence on me and I hope that this opportunity will help me peruse remixing as a career.”

A pop icon synonymous with creative collaboration from his days as lead singer of the 1980’s group Culture Club to his current work with David Hoyle (The Divine David), Boy George has turned to Talenthouse to identify artists like Mark, and he is pleased to announce this collaboration.
“I believe that all artists of the world should have the opportunity to be recognized for their work,” said Boy George “That’s why I’m involved with Talenthouse. I am really looking forward to collaborating with Mark.”
Congratulations Mark and thank you to all those artists who submitted their tracks!

Exposures: Jane Bown: 100 Portraits, in association with The Observer
23 October - 21 November 09

Jane Bown had been taking portraits for the Observer newspaper since 1949 and in that time has photographed everyone from Bertrand Russell to the Beatles to Samuel Beckett to the Queen. Working almost exclusively in black and white and with an absolute economy of means her portraits are immediately recognisable and many have become classics of the genre.
Over the past few years, Jane’s extensive archive has been catalogued for the first time leading to a significant reassessment of her work.
The exhibition will showcase 100 of Jane’s best photographs across her six-decade career. This will include many familiar images, however, a significant number will be drawn from previously unknown shoots (e.g. Tarkovsky, de Niro, etc.), or alternative pictures from familiar shoots (e.g. Nureyev, Mansfield, Jagger, etc.)
The exhibition and accompanying book will cement Jane Bown’s reputation as one of Britain’s most significant photojournalists and a portraitist with few peers.
EXPOSURES by Jane Bown
Introduction by Luke Dodd. Guardian Books: 100 b&w illustrations, 240 pages.
Exhibition price: £25
Accompanying some of the images featured in the book are Jane Bown's recollections of the day the pictures were taken, including anecdotes from, amongst others, her photo-sessions with Francis Bacon, Bono, Lucian Freud, Jane Mansfield, Rudolph Nureyev and Vita Sackville-West.
